Martin Crawford a écrit :I do not keep poultry in my forest garden but it is certainly a possibility and they can bring benefits. Many forest gardens worldwide include poultry but not necessarily free range – chickens in particular are likely to eat many of the low perennial plants that are there for human food. Hence the use of movable arks etc may be necessary.
Dave Jacke a écrit :I did not address livestock in my book because I am not a livestock person--I have only had chickens a few times for short periods, for example. I agree that they can provide many "ecosystem services" in our gardens. But I did not want to deal with them in EFG for several reasons: I am not that experienced; the book was already big enough (!); and the systems I was trying to understand and describe were already so complex, I didn't want to confuse myself and my readers further.
